About The Holistic Touch

The Holistic Touch is run by Sandra Baker.
I suffered from M.E (chronic fatigue syndrome) in the early 1990s and
as part of the process of coming to terms with this, I have explored many
different complementary therapies for people and extended this interest
to my own long term involvement with horses.
I first became interested in healing when my own horse was helped by
Charles Siddle, a renowned animal healer. This ultimately lead me to follow
my own path in healing by training through the National
Federation of Spiritual Healers and the Charles
Siddle Foundation for Animal Healing, working closely with Felicity
Wilson of the latter.
I came across The
Equine Touch when I started to research the Bowen Technique and
its application for horses.
"My much loved 26 year old mare had suffered a back/hip
injury 3 years previously and suffered periods of unsoundness and stiffness
that the vet was unable to find a specific cause for. Like many horse
owners, I was anxious to do as much as I could to help her keep mobile
and sound and enjoying life for as long as possible. I came across The
Equine Touch web site which had details of a 'Horse Lovers course', which
I thought sounded great and just what I needed do. At this stage I just
wanted to help my horse!"
Having been blown away by the wonderful results on horses from this gentle
and effective soft tissue manipulation, I decided to follow the training
to a higher level and qualified as an Equine Touch Practitioner in February
2003. To complement this, I have completed some training in Vibromuscular
Harmonisation Technique (VHT) - the human equivalent of Equine Touch,
so that both horse and rider can be helped.
Please note I am not currently licensed as an Equine Touch Practitioner. If you are interested in Equine Touch for your horse please go to www.theequinetouch.com where you can find a list of current practitioners in the UK.
Finally a thought on the Equine Touch and our relationship with our horses
The Equine Touch can work positively by improving our relationship
with the horse. It is something 'humans' can give to horses without
the need for something in return from the horse. In our day-to-day lives
with horses, we rarely give anything to the horse without expecting
something in return. The Equine Touch has already given me some wonderful
moments working on horses who might start their session tense and in
pain, but during it begin to release that tension, relax and enjoy their
session, and afterwards marvel in their new pain free bodies."
To me, the Equine Touch is a very special 'gift' that we can offer the
horse. Enabling the horse to take what it needs from that 'gift' to
heal at a physical, mental, emotional, and maybe even spiritual level.
